Home News Blog Summer is finally here – so it’s time to dine alfresco

Latest news

It feels like we’ve been waiting a long time for warmer weather, but – touch wood – it’s here at last. Whether you’re settling down at your favourite picnic spot, or just enjoying the sunshine in the garden, our new collection of summer recipes are sure to give your alfresco meal a touch of luxury.

Simple meals don’t have to be boring – as demonstrated by our Rock Star baguette. Ideal for a quick lunch in the garden, this classic sandwich is filled with vintage cave-aged Cheddar, cherry tomatoes and Balsamic Caramelised Onion Chutney. The addition of gherkin slices and rocket leaves brings even more layers of flavour.

Or if you’re entertaining friends, our new Green Thunder pesto whirls make an elegant canape to pass around with alfresco aperitifs. They’re just as delicious served warm from the oven as they are prepared in advance and chilled – and your guests will love the cheese’s savoury flavours of roasted garlic and garden herbs, wrapped in golden puff pastry. As an added bonus, these bites are deceptively easy to make, too.

And the demandingly moreish flavours of our signature Black Bomber extra mature Cheddar come into their own in both our vegetable open pie, filled with roasted veggies, and our roasted courgette and red pepper quiche – the perfect vegetarian centrepieces for a meal at the garden table this summer.
