Latest news

From receiving multiple awards to making a clutch of TV appearances and creating lots of tasty new recipes for your favourite cheeses, 2022 was quite a year at Snowdonia Cheese Company. Here are our highlights of the last 12 months…

We know you love our waxed cheeses, and they have won multiple awards over the decades. In 2022, we added several more to the trophy cabinet at Snowdonia Cheese HQ. In Fine Food Digest’s annual Best Brands survey, we were voted the Best Brand in the British Cheese category for the seventh time, while Truffle Trove, our extra mature Cheddar with Black Summer truffle, won gold at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards. And at the British Cheese Awards, we received four accolades, including a coveted gold medal for Black Bomber – our signature extra mature Cheddar – in the People’s Choice category, voted for by members of the public.

It was also a great year for TV appearances for Snowdonia Cheese: did you spot us on the small screen? In February, our cheeses were featured in an episode of The Apprentice set in Snowdonia National Park, then Rock Star was in the spotlight on Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted Showdown in November. Our vintage cave-aged Cheddar popped up again in December on Sunday Brunch, when cheese expert Morgan McGlynn selected it for her Christmas cheeseboard.

And our recipe creators were hard at work last year, too. We always love creating dishes that celebrate the flavours of our cheeses and our 2022 creations included a whole-cauliflower cheese bake with Black Bomber; Green Thunder pesto whirls; and a hearty Black Bomber vegetable open pie.
