In 2018, there was a Royal visit to Cardiff, the capital of Wales. The soon to be newlyweds Prince Harry and Meghan Markle undertook their first official visit to Wales as a couple.
Snowdonia Cheese were in attendance as a key food manufacturer and an example of the finest Welsh produce. There was only one choice for a display and we were proud to present the couple with a unique cheese wedding cake, created from some of our famous wax enrobed cheeses.
Arriving to cheering crowds, the couple took a tour of historic Cardiff Castle, saw cultural performances which included world famous Welsh singing, met sportsmen and women and sampled food and drink from Wales.
Upon seeing the cake Meghan was reported to say, “Oh my goodness. How sweet is that?”, adding that it was “really delicious” after she took a bite.
The five-tier wedding cake consisted of: Black Bomber Extra Mature Cheddar, Red Storm Vintage Red Leicester, Beechwood, our naturally smoked Cheddar and Green Thunder a mature Cheddar with garlic and garden herbs.
