Transform Christmas dinner leftovers with a delicious hot cheese bake
Christmas dinner is one of the most anticipated meals of the year – but what’s the best way to handle the mountains of leftovers? Rather than letting them go to waste, transform them into something delicious for Boxing Day and beyond.
Whether you have turkey, ham, roast veggies, chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets or even just a few roasted carrots and Brussels sprouts, this sharing recipe will breathe new life into all those festive leftovers. Simply reheat them and dunk them into our creamy Rock Star Cheese & Wine Bake, crafted with cave-aged Cheddar, cracked black pepper and Sauvignon Blanc, and served bubbling hot from the oven.
Ingredients
- Leftover turkey, ham or any roasted meat, chopped into chunks if required
- Leftover vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, parsnips or Brussels sprouts, chopped into chunks if required
- Rock Star Cheese & Wine Bake
- Optional: fresh herbs, such as thyme or rosemary, for extra flavour
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180C (350F).
- In a large oven-proof dish or platter, layer the Christmas leftovers (and herbs if desired) and then cover them with foil.
- Bake both the Rock Star Cheese & Wine Bake and the leftovers for about 20 minutes, until thoroughly cooked and piping hot throughout.
- Present the leftovers on a serving platter alongside the Rock Star Cheese & Wine Bake as a hot dip. It’s perfect as a meal on its own or paired with a side salad and crusty bread.
Microwave version
If you’re in a rush or don’t want to turn the oven on, simply heat your plate of leftovers in the microwave. Cover the dish with a microwave-safe lid or in microwave-safe cling film and heat for 5-7 minutes, stirring halfway and ensuring it’s heated all the way through. The Rock Star Cheese & Wine Bake can also be heated in the microwave – simply follow the instructions on the packaging. Once your bake is ready, serve it hot, straight from the terracotta dish, with the meat and veggies for dunking.
